Whitmer Family Names

Several of Angus and Jennie Whitmer’s children have named their children after their siblings. This is just a fun page to learn about who named who from the Whitmer family.

• Ralph named his youngest son, Ben Angus after Grandpa Angus.
• Rex had a daughter they named Jane after Grandma Sarah Jane. One child named Lewis Leland after Grandpa and Grandma’s son, Lealand, who died very young.
Some have wondered why Grandpa and Grandma Whitmer used single initials as middle names. Some with periods after. It has been said that they favored doing it this way since that is often how the general authorities did it.
