Harold is the oldest child in our family of two girls and two boys. Growing up he always liked to watch westerns on tv. When our family went camping, he was in his element. He has always loved fishing, camping and biking. Harold enjoys painting, drawing and golfing. His family has enjoyed singing together. He has always been in the ward choir. He and his wife, Teresa, enjoyed western dancing when they were dating. Their family has lived most of their married life in Springville. Harold graduated from BYU. He served a mission to Argentina. They have eight children: Shane, Sharee, Liana, Devan, Dana, Jared, Audra and Michaela

CHERYL JANE

Cheryl is the second child in our family. She is named after Grandma Sarah ‘Jane’ Whitmer. She was hired as Teen Page Editor of the weekly Teen Page in our local newspaper during her junior and senior year. She was elected Senior Class President. Cheryl graduated from BYU in 1989 majoring in Public Relations. This led to amazing opportunities including working for the SL Olympic Bid Committee, KSL TV, Utah Hotel and Lodging Assoc. where she published a vacation guide for the State of Utah, etc. While Women’s Council President for the SL Home Builders Assoc, she received a national award. She was SL Director of a non-profit called FUTURE hosting the top women’s leadership of Iraq to the United States providing them a model of how to create a women’s organization in their own country (similar to our Relief Society). The Iraqi women created a generic manual and plan. Cheryl is currently publishing her final family history book for the Munn and Whitmer families. Her first book was published in 1997. She is fun loving, enjoys the arts and plays the piano. Cheryl has traveled to a number of foreign countries including Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, England, Tasmania, Guatemala, Costa Rica, etc., her favorite being Israel and Africa. Since touring Africa she continues to provide humanitarian assistance for needy students. Cheryl has six children: Kim, Jennie, Jeff, Ryan (died of a heart attack in 2018 in Alaska) Dave and Christie

ETHIE (ETHELYN)

Ethie was named after Aunt Ethel, Mom’s sister. She has always been a lover of animals and likes to pick up strays from time to time because she has such empathy for them. While we were growing up she would always tell jokes at the dinner table. She is a lover of fishing especially at our favorite place, Camp Nelson, where we went every summer. Ethie has unfortunately contracted a serious heart disease called cardiomyopathy, the same disease Dad had. We always knew if Dad lived long enough there would a ‘cure.’ Sure enough, Ethie, has a defibrillator in her chest which has saved her life. Too late for Dad though. She likes to crochet. She spent most of her life in Bakersfield but has recently moved to Draper, Utah. She has four children: Rachel, Jessica, Aaron and Leah.

GARY

Gary was the youngest member of our family. He was fun to be around and was greatly loved by his family and all who knew him. Football was his favorite sport especially enjoying playing in high school. Unfortunately, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol while he was in his teens until he was in his late 30s. Mom and Dad tried and tried to find a program that would help him recover from his addictions. Eventually, he healed and graduated from Dixie College in St. George. From there he got his L.C.S.W. from the University of Utah so that he could become a therapist to help others who had addictions. He was in his prime. He had a counseling business in Cedar City called Abbey Roads Counseling. He was a very popular therapist, others trusting him to help them overcome their own addictions too. He took out his temple endowments thanks to the encouragement of his wife, Sandra. Unfortunately, due to his prior use of drugs and alcohol, Gary contracted liver failure due to hepatitis and died in 2013. Many came to his funeral to honor him. Gary was and is an inspiration to all who know him. We miss you Gary!
